A robust PRT system will be more convenient, for many purposes, than a car. This means more people will be choosing public transportation, and traffic congestion will automatically be reduced.

Measure D allocates $97 million toward highway auxiliary lanes. That amount could pay for 10 miles of Personal Rapid Transit which would, in our opinion, be more effective in reducing traffic and improving safety (not to mention the other benefits of PRT). We encourage the County to carefully study the relative benefits of PRT versus highway construction.
